Where Is MAZDA From?

2026 MAZDA CX-50

What country is Mazda made in, and where is it from? Mazda models are manufactured in many places; however, the main manufacturing plant is based in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The company that would go on to become the Mazda Motor Corporation initially developed and produced compressed corkboard after being founded as Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd in 1920.

After a fire destroyed most of their facilities, a new plant was constructed in Fuchu and began producing three-wheeled motorcycles called “Autorickshaws.” From there, motorized carts became popular, and Mazda moved forward with more industry-changing technologies, including the famous rotary engine and fan favorites like the Mazda Miata.
